Explore the Official Rules of the Double Bubble Cup

Delve into the core guidelines and principles that shape the Double Bubble Cup.

- The Double Bubble Cup consists of two teams, the Hookers and the Shankers, each containing 8 players.
- On each of the 3 competition days there will be a total of 4 matches and therefore 4 points up for grabs.
- Upon arrival, players will receive their team allocation, to the Hookers or Shankers, plus their pairings for the first round of play. For days two and three, the teams must submit their pairings to the event organizer during the evening festivities. Once all pairings have been received, they will be chosen at random to establish the order of play for the following day.
- The format for each day will be a combined team Stableford match play. The Stableford score for each player in a pair will be combined for each hole and compared to that of your opposing team for the same hole. The higher of the two scores wins the hole or if they are equal then the hole is tied.
- Double Bubble – Each player has one Double Bubble per 18 holes. BEFORE you tee off on a hole, you may call “Double Bubble”. Using a Double Bubble means that the calling player receives double Stableford points for that particular hole. Double Bubble can be called at any time before that individual player has hit the tee shot on a given hole, even after the other team has teed off. Both team members do not have to use the double bubble on the same hole. USE THEM WISELY!
- As with normal Match-play rules, at the end of the 18 holes, the winning team will score 1 point or if it is tied, each team will receive ½ a point.
- At the end of the 3 rounds, if the overall points for the Hookers and the Shankers are tied, the margins of victory will be taken into consideration from each day. If still tied, a tie breaker of some kind will be arranged during the final evening activities.
